Our Beliefs
OUR BELIEFS
We believe in the fundamental principles of the Christian faith as set out in the Apostles’ Creed:
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit
and born of the virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to hell.
On the third day he rose again from the dead.
He ascended to heaven
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty.
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic* church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
*that is, the true Christian church of all times and all places
We believe in the triune God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe that the Bible is inspired by God and is authoritative in matters of life and faith, as well as being alive and active (Hebrews 4:1). In other words, by God’s Spirit, God’s Word has transformative power to renew the hearts and minds of people today.
We believe that human beings were created by God, to be in relationship with Him, but that all have sinned and fall short of God’s glory (Romans 6:23). We believe that Jesus came as the promised Messiah and offers salvation to all those who accept His gift of life and forgiveness (John 3:16), restoring the individual’s relationship with God.
We believe that, as John Wesley stated:
All must be saved
All can be saved
All can know that they are saved
All must be saved to the utmost (strive to live and work out their salvation as they are conformed to the image of Christ as the Holy Spirit sanctifies and transforms them).
